Dyno Day? 55$ :-)

Post by Dion.Rentos » Mon Jan 28, 2013 11:04 am

Dyno Day?

Who would be up for Dyno Day?

Got a local Shop willing to give 5 or more SCC Gold members 2 Pulls and print out for 55$

I just had mine done but i would join for the fun. Unless i make a good change and want to see the update

Only thing is we have to pay upfront. because he said clubs in the past never bring the agreed amount of cars.

Since we only need 5+

So who is in?

Intrigued...very...I have seen the sheets from before before "Mod-erating " bo.
Curious as to how successful ive been at calming her down.

I have Querys tho :

What secures your car from flying off that thing into the wall or slapping side to side on the rails?
( I would cry... if bo got splattered...literally.)

Do you drive it on that thing and make the run.... or do they?
( Peepers requires surgical skills to navigate tight spaces)

Whats the minimum speed you/they must take it to, to get a proper read ?
(discover ...the true speed rating...as centrifugal force de-beads them)

Other than HP and torque at the wheels...what else could it tell me about my "moderations" to bo-peep.
(Keeping in mind Bo has the computing power of a toaster )

1. They get strapped down pretty tightly. Best movie Ive seen yet showing he straps.

2. Typically for insurance reason they drive it up on the dyno. Typically its a strait shot up on to it.

3. They typically do a high gear run. They ran Kalcorps car up to 155 just when ever the gear tops out for the most part.

4. Pretty much thats it just HP and Torque at the wheels. Youll also hear out loud it is or in your case how calmed down she is.

Oh and Lucy says a toaster could be used to launch a person into space so Bo is more like a abacus :P

TJ's shop is a pretty open shop with a dynojet dyno, he backs the car up onto the dyno and then raises it up some to strap the car down. They strap the car via a point on the chassis in the front on both sides, and also in the rear at two points also on each side, the car is VERY secured at this point. The straps are so tight the car won't move side to side. When I did mine at Lashway motorsports in Pompano Bch they had a mustang dyno and when the car was strapped down front and back, they even strapped it side to side for safety, Some shops will do that, I don't know if TJ does or not. He has had many high horse power cars on his dyno.. Bo would be OK.. Normally they run the car depending on the tranny in 4th gear I believe and they run it up to about 6000rpm, just before redline on my dyno pull sheet. HP fell off at about 5500 but my TQ leveled out at 5800-6000.All depends on the numbers I guess as to how high you need to run it..

I would be interested in going if this is still going to happen. Would need to know what day in advance obviously. Would like to get a base line to see where I am at.

OK so how do we want to do this?

We need to Pay the shop for 5 members first to schedule it. then more can come

So we need to pick the Dyno Day. and then also pick a day before where 5 members show up to pay.

Please update your vote at top so we can get a good count

Since i didnt need to do the dyno in the past. ( already did one) I was not pushing for this. Was hoping someone else would step up and make this happen.

But i like to get a dyno done now so it looks like i have to do it. :-)
