Rf noise?

Post by skybrake » Sun Dec 02, 2012 8:24 pm

My proform 35 GPM works great, however it creates Rf noise that makes the radio useless when driving.
Does not interfere with ipod or cd player...but radio creates static whenever its on. Sort of need to run the water pump so its one or the other for now...

Anyone know how to silence this ?
Im thinking a 1 Farad inline capaciter might do the trick....
anyone else ever deal with a problem like this?

Yes DC motors generate an incredible amount of RF noise.

Filtering the power wiring into the radio can eliminate conducted interference. Radiated interference is another issue :confusion-helpsos:

What about putting a grounded metal box around it to help dampen the RF noise? Just a thought, but I am not an engineer...so take my advice with a grain of salt...lol

Thanks gang...ill try filtering the power line to the radio and see if that helps.

FInally received my 1 Micro Farad RF line filter from radio shack and a set of transient voltage clamp diodes for bo peep. 5$ plus shipping.

.
NO MORE RF INTERFERENCE! Yippie...finally I can listen to the radio instead of relying on CD's and MP3 when I cruise.

Woot

So what's next a pair of 12 inch subs in the trunk?

Be careful Bo peep might lose some of that hardened edge :p
